Bladder Ultrasound
Historically, Dalmatian owners and breeders have considered dogs to be non-stone formers if the dogs
never experienced urinary obstruction. We know now that there are a number of Dalmatians, males and females,
who develop urinary bladder stones but never obstruct. This test will help determine if silent stones are
present and will hopefully provide a basis for further investigation into factors affecting stone formation
in our breed, as well as help us develop more effective management practices for affected dogs.
- Noninvasive, painless and completely confidential screening test for urinary bladder stones. No
sedation required.
- We will only evaluate urinary bladders and not kidneys, primarily because kidney scans would require
clipping coat. Bladder scans will not require any clipping of coat.
- Important Note: Dogs should not be allowed to urinate for at least 2 hours prior to their appointment for scanning.
We need urine in the bladder to visualize contents appropriately.
- Free test for Dalmatians of all ages.
- Confidentiality Guaranteed - Owner and dog identification is optional.
